Currently, South Shore offers four different styles of worship. For youth and adults, we have traditional and contemporary worship on Sunday mornings. The 8:00closeERROR: No results were found for your search.closeERROR: No results were found for your search. AM service is a spirited traditional style of worship lead by a choir employing the use of creeds, liturgy, traditional hymns, and instrumental special music. The next two services at 9:30 and 11:00 AM are driven by a worship band playing contemporary worship music. For children a service specially designed for them happens at 9:30 AM called FX. This high energy event includes singing, drama, dancing, video and all the trimmings that make it a hit with children. In addition to Sunday morning worship, teens will find an experience crafted to their needs at Sunday Night Live which contains a strong worship component. Led by their peers, a band energizes the crowd with great music and the prayers, and other liturgical elements are present. The youth director shares a brief sermon that sets up small group activities. At each of these worship experiences you are likely to find film clips, multi-media presentations, drama, and other events to engage the congregation in a worship experience that glorifies God.
Interested in coming? Here’s what you need to know:
- Dress is informal. Come as you are, even for our traditional service.
- The services start on time, but many people come early and spend time in our lobby area enjoying sweets and conversation.
- We want to call everyone by name so we invite everyone to fill out a name-tag at the front door.
- We offer child care and children’s ministry options.
You will find your place to belong at one of the services where there is a high level of lay person involvement in worship. Messages are meant to be functional as we seek to work out our own salvation through Jesus Christ on our spiritual journey. You can expect to hear good theology, but also walk away with ways to incorporate the gospel in your everyday life.
You will be greeted in the parking lot by our welcome team. They will help you find a place to park and be directed to the main entrance. As you enter underneath the large portico on the west side of the building you are invited to complete a name tag. We endeavor to call each person by name, so helping your neighbor out with a readable name tag is helpful. Come as you are, dress in whatever way you feel is appropriate. Some people dress up, others dress down. Most attenders wear business casual attire, though will find some ties and dresses with a fair share of shorts and flip flops.
Relationships are the heartbeat of our congregation, so come and find your place at South Shore United Methodist Church.
