Rev. John Legg is a Florida native and grew up in Ruskin, FL. He is a life-long United Methodist and has served the church in full time service since 1990 as a youth director, worship leader, assistant and senior pastor. In 2005 pastor Legg was appointed to the Riverview area to start a new regionally impacting congregation. Soon, the name South Shore United Methodist Church was chosen and since its first worship service in 2006 the church has grown consistently.
Pastor Legg is involved in the new church development process of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and coaches pastors in both the new church and revitalizing congregation appointments.
Music is an important part of John’s life where he plays a variety of instruments, though he is quick to point out he is master of none.
Honest and real, many people comment that John is a “what you see is what you get” kind of pastor. His sermons feel like conversations and you get the sense that he is the same person on Sunday morning that you might meet at Panera on Tuesday or while working out at the gym.
John has two children, Jordan and Jaylee, and a late addition to the family, a young adult named Sierra.
